How we make money

BucketTreks is free to use. We earn in three ways, and none of them changes the prices you see or the order you see them in.

Referral agreements with operators

Operators can sign a referral agreement in our operator portal. When you book with a partner through a tracked link or promo code from this site, the operator pays us a commission (typically 10% of the booking). Partner operators carry a "Direct deal" badge so you can tell.

Affiliate links

Some links go to booking platforms and travel companies that pay a commission on bookings (for example Awin merchants, TourRadar, G Adventures, Viator, Booking.com and Discover Cars). Those links are marked with rel="sponsored" and go through our /go/ redirect so we can count clicks.

Quote requests

When you ask for quotes we send your request to up to three operators that fit. Partner operators pay a commission on confirmed bookings; for high-value trips a named human closer may handle the request on commission; occasionally a request is passed to a specialist agency as a paid lead. You are told which route your request took.

What we never do

• Accept payment for ranking, placement, badges or reviews.
• Hide operators that do not pay us. Every licensed operator we can find is listed.
• Change the price you pay. You pay the operator's price; the commission comes out of the operator's margin.

The disclosure "BucketTreks earns a commission if you book through some links. It doesn't change the price you pay or our ranking." appears on every page with a commercial link.
